Storm of Desire

Storm of Desire

Chapter 1: Electric Tension

The marina office was a cramped, humid space, the kind of place where the air clung to your skin like a desperate lover. Outside, the storm battered the windows with relentless fury, rain streaking down in sheets, thunder rumbling like a primal growl. Inside, Rae and Eli were hunched over a laptop, the glow of the screen casting sharp shadows across their faces. It was past midnight, and the rest of the world had long since gone to sleep—but not them. Never them.

Rae, all five-foot-one of fiery determination, leaned closer to the screen, her dark hair spilling over her shoulder as she pointed at a design mockup. 'This color scheme screams ‘boring corporate hell,’ Eli. We need something bolder. Sexier. This marina isn’t just a dock—it’s a damn fantasy waiting to happen.' Her voice was sharp, cutting through the tension that had been simmering between them for weeks.

Eli, towering at six-foot-seven, leaned back in his chair, his long legs sprawled out, a smirk playing on his lips. 'Sexier, huh? You’ve been throwing that word around a lot lately, Rae. Makes a man wonder if you’re talking about the website… or something else.' His deep voice dripped with suggestion, his hazel eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her pulse race.

She didn’t flinch. Instead, she turned to face him, her gaze just as piercing. 'Oh, please. If I wanted to talk about something else, I’d be a lot less subtle. Like, say, how you keep ‘accidentally’ brushing up against me every chance you get.' She arched a brow, her lips curling into a wicked grin. 'What’s the matter, Eli? Ten years apart got you forgetting how to make a real move?'

His smirk widened into a full-on grin, and he leaned forward, closing the distance between them until she could feel the heat radiating off him. 'Darlin’, I’ve got moves you haven’t even dreamed of yet. But I’m playing nice. For now.' His voice dropped lower, a rough edge to it that sent a shiver down her spine. 'Keep pushing, though. See what happens.'

Rae’s breath hitched, but she didn’t back down. She never did. Instead, she stood, her petite frame somehow commanding the room as she stepped closer, her hip brushing against his thigh. 'Maybe I want to see what happens,' she shot back, her voice low and challenging. 'Maybe I’m tired of all this teasing bullshit. You gonna do something about it, or just keep talking?'

The air crackled between them, charged like the storm outside. Eli’s eyes darkened, and in one fluid motion, he stood, towering over her, his hands gripping the edge of the desk as if to anchor himself. 'Careful, Rae,' he warned, his voice a growl. 'You’re playing with fire.'

She tilted her head back to meet his gaze, unflinching, her lips parting slightly. 'Good. I like it hot.'

That was it—the breaking point. Eli’s restraint snapped like a taut wire, and he surged forward, his hands cupping her face as he crushed his mouth against hers in a kiss that was all heat and hunger. Rae didn’t hesitate; she kissed him back just as fiercely, her fingers tangling in his shirt, pulling him closer. Their tongues clashed, a battle for dominance, and she bit his lower lip just hard enough to make him groan.

'Fuck, Rae,' he rasped against her mouth, his hands sliding down to grip her hips, pulling her flush against him. She could feel how hard he was already, the evidence pressing insistently against her, and it sent a jolt of raw, primal need through her. 'You’ve got no idea how long I’ve wanted this.'

'Then stop talking and show me,' she demanded, her voice thick with desire, her nails digging into his shoulders as she pressed herself tighter against him. The storm outside roared, but it was nothing compared to the tempest building between them, a decade of pent-up longing ready to explode.
