The outskirts of Mondstadt were a mess. The usually peaceful and picturesque landscape was now marred by the aftermath of a brutal attack. Paimon and Lumine arrived on the scene, with Venti in tow. He had been drinking with Diluc in the wine cellar, and was still holding his wine glass, looking only mildly concerned at the chaos around him.
"I see you've been keeping busy while we were gone," Venti said with a playful jab at Diluc.
Diluc, still holding his wine glass, responded with a smirk, "I was just making sure everything was in order."
Lumine's eyes scanned the area, taking in the destruction. And then she saw her, Noelle, lying on the ground, looking completely satisfied. Lumine couldn't help but feel a wave of disgust wash over her. She turned her attention to Sucrose, who was still surrounded by Hilichurls, and said, "You've got some explaining to do, Sucrose."
Sucrose, looking a bit sheepish, tried to explain herself, but Lumine cut her off, "Save it. I don't want to hear it."
Lumine turned to Paimon, her voice laced with anger, "I can't believe you let this happen."
Paimon, with a mischievous grin, responded, "I was just giving them a little taste of what they've been missing."
Venti couldn't contain his laughter, "I think it's safe to say they got more than they bargained for."
Diluc, still holding his wine glass, said, "We should take care of these Hilichurls before they cause any more trouble."
Lumine nodded in agreement, "Let's finish this and get out of here."
The group began to fight the remaining Hilichurls, with Lumine and Venti taking the lead. Lumine's sword sliced through the air, taking down Hilichurl after Hilichurl. With each swing, she felt a sense of satisfaction, like she was taking back control of the situation.
After the fight, the group took a moment to catch their breath. Lumine turned to Sucrose, her eyes blazing, "You're coming with us. We're going to have a long talk about this."
Sucrose looked at the ground, defeated. She knew she had some explaining to do. But for now, they had to focus on getting back to Mondstadt and regrouping.
As they walked back to the city, Lumine couldn't help but think about what had just happened. She was the leader of this group, and it was her responsibility to keep them safe. She had let her guard down, and this is what happened. She vowed to never let it happen again.
As they entered the city, the group was met with cheers and applause. They had saved the day, and the people of Mondstadt were grateful. But Lumine couldn't shake the feeling that she had let them down. She would have to make it up to them, and to herself.
The group disbanded, each going their separate ways. Lumine and Sucrose stayed behind, with Lumine determined to get to the bottom of what had happened.
"Alright, Sucrose," Lumine said, "Start talking."
And so, Sucrose began to explain herself. She told Lumine about the Hilichurls, and how they had been threatening the city. She had tried to handle it on her own, but things had gotten out of hand. Lumine listened, her anger slowly dissipating as she realized that Sucrose had been trying to protect them.
"I understand," Lumine said, "But in the future, we do this together. We're a team, and we have to trust each other."
Sucrose nodded, "I understand. I'm sorry."
Lumine smiled, "It's alright. We all make mistakes. But we learn from them, and we move forward."
And with that, the two of them walked off into the sunset, ready to face whatever challenges came their way. Together.
