Sweet Surrender: A Goddesses' Gamble on Love, Labor, and the Little Surprises in Between

Chapter One: Gathering of Goddesses

The air in Brigitte's Candyland Palace was thick with the sweet scent of nectar and candied fruits. Brigitte, Hera, Amphitrite, and Pershephone sat around a table, their laughter and animated conversation filling the room.

"Ugh, I swear, if I have to vomit one more time, I'm going to lose my mind," Brigitte complained, rubbing her belly. "Morning sickness is no joke."

Hera rolled her eyes, sipping on her nectar. "At least you're not kept up all night like me. I swear, Zeus's snoring is enough to wake the dead."

Amphitrite chimed in, rubbing her own tender breasts. "At least they're not haunting your dreams like mine. Poseidon's been trying to help, but his attempts are often clumsy and end up causing more work."

Pershephone chuckled, patting Amphitrite's hand. "At least they're not haunting your dreams like mine. Hades has been surprisingly attentive, even offering to cook for me. Can you believe it?"

This revelation prompted a round of laughter from the group.

"Well, someone's trying to start a pantheon of their own!" Brigitte exclaimed, grinning at Pershephone.

Hera shared her own experience, a mix of excitement and fear etched on her face. "I told Zeus about the pregnancy, and his reaction was... well, a mix of excitement and fear. He's been distant lately, but I'm not surprised, considering his track record."

Brigitte nodded, understanding in her eyes. "Apollo was over the moon when I told him I was carrying his son. But I'm worried he's treating me like a porcelain doll. I don't want to be coddled, I want to be loved."

Amphitrite sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Poseidon was thrilled to hear he was going to be a father again, but I'm worried he'll be too busy with his duties to spend time with the baby. He's been trying to help, but his attempts are often clumsy and end up causing more work."

Pershephone shared her own experience, a small smile on her face. "Hades was surprisingly gentle when I told him about the pregnancy. Even offering to help with the children. Looks like the underworld is getting a little less scary."

The group laughed, the sound echoing through the palace.

Hera playfully insulted Pershephone, "At least your kids won't be stuck in the darkness all the time."

Brigitte chimed in, "And at least our husbands are treating us better than most. I remember the stories of Demeter's treatment during her pregnancy. It's a miracle Persephone turned out as well as she did."

The group fell silent, remembering the harsh treatment Demeter had received during her pregnancy.

Amphitrite brought up the topic of their husbands' treatment during pregnancy, causing a collective groan from the group.

"It's like they forget we're still goddesses, not just vessels for their offspring," Brigitte said, her voice laced with frustration.

Hera nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We deserve to be treated with respect and love, not like fragile objects."

The group continued to talk, their voices echoing through the palace, a testament to their strength and resilience as goddesses and women.
