The four goddesses—Brigitte, Hera, Amphitrite, and Persephone— lounged in Brigitte’s candy-filled throne room, each of them ensconced in plush chairs made of marshmallows and gumdrops. The room was a riot of color and scent, with towering candy cane columns and sweets of every description cascading from the ceiling.
Brigitte, the goddess of joy and candy, sat in a throne made of chocolate and nougat, her round belly testament to her latest pregnancy. She fanned herself with a giant lollipop, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “I have a new craving,” she announced, causing the other goddesses to laugh and tease her.
“Oh, do tell, Brigitte,” said Hera, the queen of the gods, her tone dripping with sarcasm. She reclined on a chair made of peppermint sticks, her own belly flat and unblemished. “I’m sure it’s something equally as bizarre as your last one.”
Brigitte stuck her tongue out at Hera before saying, “I want a giant pickle dipped in chocolate. Don’t judge me until you’ve tried it.”
The goddesses erupted in laughter, calling Brigitte a “salty-sweet freak.”
Hera shared her own craving—spicy tacos with extra jalapeños. She boasted about how Zeus, her husband, jumped at the chance to fulfill her cravings, even at midnight.
Amphitrite, the goddess of the sea, chimed in, revealing her longing for salt and vinegar chips. Poseidon, her husband, had been sending waves of chips to her from the ocean, she said with a playful eye-roll.
Persephone, the goddess of the underworld, hesitated before sharing her cravings—both sweet and savory. She was expecting twins, a boy and a girl, and had been craving everything from chocolate-covered bacon to honey-glazed ham.
The goddesses erupted in laughter and teased Persephone about her “insatiable appetite.” She playfully insulted them back, calling them “amateurs” in the pregnancy game.
The goddesses then moved on to discussing their husbands’ reactions to finding out they were pregnant. Brigitte shared how Apollo, her husband, was overjoyed and immediately started composing a song to celebrate.
Hera recalled how Zeus was surprised but quickly became protective, building a golden barrier around her to keep her safe. The goddesses rolled their eyes at his over-the-top reaction.
Amphitrite shared how Poseidon was thrilled and has been building a palace made entirely of seashells for their child. The goddesses cooed at the thought.
Persephone revealed that Hades, her husband, was initially shocked but has since become more attentive and affectionate. She admitted she’s enjoying the extra attention.
The goddesses then discussed how their husbands have been treating them since they got pregnant. Brigitte shared how Apollo has been waiting on her hand and foot, even offering to massage her swollen feet.
Hera shared how Zeus has been bringing her gifts and trying to help with her duties as queen of the gods, but failing miserably.
Amphitrite revealed that Poseidon has been taking her on romantic getaways to the most beautiful parts of the ocean.
Persephone shared how Hades has been cooking her favorite meals and even offering to style her hair. The goddesses were shocked and impressed.
The goddesses then discussed how they told their husbands they were pregnant. Brigitte shared how she surprised Apollo with a basket of candy filled with tiny replicas of their child.
Hera revealed how she used her powers to make Zeus see a vision of their child.
Amphitrite shared how she sent Poseidon a message in a bottle with the news.
Persephone shared how she simply told Hades, and he immediately started making plans for their future.
The goddesses then discussed Hades’ reaction to finding out Persephone is expecting twins. Persephone shared how he was initially surprised but quickly became excited, promising to build a special place in the underworld for their children.
The goddesses toasted to their pregnancies, their husbands, and their future children, promising to support each other through the ups and downs of pregnancy and motherhood.
As they sipped their drinks, Brigitte looked at her friends and said, “This is going to be an interesting ride, ladies. But I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.”
The goddesses laughed and agreed, raising their glasses in a toast to their unbreakable sisterhood.
