Switched Desires

Switched Desires

**Chapter 1: The Unseen Switch**

Lila Voss was not a woman to be trifled with. A tech-savvy entrepreneur with a razor-sharp wit, she ran her startup with an iron grip and a smirk that could disarm any boardroom. At 32, her life was a tightly curated masterpiece—until the day she stumbled upon a peculiar gadget at a shady online auction. 'Swap Remote,' the listing read. 'Exchange traits with any living being. One-time use. No refunds.' Intrigued by the sheer absurdity, she clicked 'Buy Now' on a whim, figuring it’d make a quirky conversation piece.

The package arrived that evening, a sleek black device with two buttons: 'Target' and 'Swap.' Lila scoffed, tossing it onto her coffee table as her German Shepherd, Max, lounged nearby, his amber eyes tracking her every move. 'What do you think, Max? Should I swap my charm for your slobber?' she teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Max tilted his head, letting out a low, lazy woof. 'Yeah, didn’t think so. I’d rather die than chase my own tail.'

But fate, or perhaps sheer clumsiness, had other plans. As she reached for her wine glass, her elbow knocked the remote to the floor. It hit with a crack, a faint hum vibrating through the room. Lila froze, her heart skipping a beat. 'Oh, come on. Don’t tell me this cheap crap actually—' Her words cut off as a strange warmth pulsed through her body, her vision blurring. Max let out a confused whine, his ears perking up. Then, silence.

When she blinked back to clarity, something felt... off. Her senses were sharper, her nose twitching at the faintest scent of the steak leftovers in the kitchen. She shook her head, muttering, 'Get a grip, Lila. You’re not a damn bloodhound.' But as she stood, an inexplicable urge tugged at her—to run, to sniff, to... mark territory? 'What the actual hell?' she snapped aloud, glaring at Max, who was now sitting unnaturally still, his gaze oddly piercing. 'Don’t look at me like that, mutt. I’m still the boss here.'

Max—or whatever was in Max—let out a low growl, but it sounded almost... amused. Lila’s eyes narrowed. 'Oh, you think this is funny? If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re judging me.' She laughed, sharp and biting, but the sound came out rougher, almost a bark. Her stomach twisted. No. This wasn’t happening. She was Lila Voss, not some horny, instinct-driven beast. Yet, as she paced the room, her body felt electric, restless, a primal heat stirring in her core that she couldn’t ignore.

She caught her reflection in the mirror—her dark hair wild, her green eyes glinting with something untamed. 'You’re losing it,' she hissed at herself, but her hands were already trembling, her skin prickling with a need she couldn’t name. Max padded closer, his presence suddenly heavier, more commanding. 'Back off, dog,' she warned, her voice low, but there was a crack in it—a hunger. Her mind screamed to resist, but her body was betraying her, aching, wet with a desire that wasn’t entirely human.

As Max’s gaze locked with hers, she felt it—a pull, raw and undeniable, her breath hitching. 'This is insane,' she growled, her fists clenching. 'I’m not some panting animal.' But the heat between her thighs was dripping now, her resolve crumbling. She took a step closer to him, her voice a dangerous whisper. 'If I’m going down this rabbit hole, you better keep up, mutt.' The air crackled with tension, her body poised on the edge of something explosive, something forbidden—and she wasn’t sure she wanted to stop.
