Chapter 1: The Weight of Want
The sprawling mansion of Evelyn Marwood loomed like a gothic fantasy against the gray sky, its turrets piercing the clouds with an air of decadent secrecy. Inside, I, Clara Veyne, stepped into my new role as assistant and nurse with a mix of trepidation and curiosity. I’d been warned about Evelyn’s condition—an STD that triggered uncontrollable pregnancies, leaving her bedridden, her belly a monstrous swell the size of a small car. But nothing could have prepared me for the reality.
I entered her chamber, a vast room draped in velvet and silk, the air thick with the scent of lavender and something primal I couldn’t place. Evelyn lay there, a queen in her own right, her abdominal skin shifting and surging as if a storm brewed beneath it. Her eyes, sharp and knowing, locked onto mine with an intensity that made my breath catch.
“Well, Clara, don’t just stand there gawking,” Evelyn’s voice cut through the silence, rich and commanding. “I’m not a sideshow. Come closer. I don’t bite—unless you’re into that sort of thing.”
I smirked, adjusting my crisp uniform as I approached. “I’ve handled worse than a sharp tongue, Ms. Marwood. What do you need?”
Her lips curled into a sly grin. “Call me Evelyn. And for starters, I need someone with a spine. The last nurse scurried off after a week, whimpering about ‘too much.’ You don’t look like the type to run. Are you?”
“Not a chance,” I shot back, meeting her gaze. “I’ve got nerves of steel and a curiosity to match. So, tell me, how does one end up... like this?” I gestured vaguely at her swollen form, my eyes lingering on the way her skin rippled with unseen life.
Evelyn chuckled, a low, throaty sound that sent a shiver down my spine. “Oh, darling, that’s a story for another day. For now, help me adjust these pillows. My back’s screaming louder than a banshee.”
As I moved to her side, my hands brushed against the taut expanse of her belly while I propped her up. The heat radiating from her was intoxicating, and I caught myself staring, imagining the chaos beneath that thin barrier of flesh. My pulse quickened, a strange heat pooling in my core. What was this feeling? Envy? Desire? I shook it off, but Evelyn’s keen eyes didn’t miss a thing.
“You’re intrigued, aren’t you?” she purred, her voice dripping with mischief. “Most people recoil, but you... you’re different. You want to know what it feels like, don’t you? To be so full, so utterly consumed by life.”
I swallowed hard, my cheeks flushing. “I’m just here to do my job, Evelyn. But I won’t lie—I’ve never seen anything like you. It’s... mesmerizing.”
Her laughter echoed through the room, bold and unapologetic. “Oh, Clara, you’ve got no idea what you’re stepping into. Stick around, and I might just show you a world you never knew you craved.”
Our banter hung in the air, charged with an unspoken tension. As I adjusted her bedding, my fingers lingered near her side, the heat of her body seeping into me. My mind raced with forbidden thoughts—what would it be like to carry such a burden, to feel my own body swell with that same wild energy? I pushed the thought away, but Evelyn’s knowing smirk told me she saw right through me.
“Careful, Clara,” she teased, her voice a seductive whisper. “Curiosity like yours can lead to dangerous places. But I’m happy to be your guide... if you dare.”
I met her challenge with a defiant grin. “Try me, Evelyn. I’m not afraid of a little danger.”
The room seemed to close in around us, the air thick with unspoken promises. I didn’t know it then, but I was already falling—falling into a web of desire and obsession that would change everything. As I stepped back, my heart pounded, and I knew this was only the beginning of something untamed.
