Temptation Unleashed

Chapter 1: The Setup

Nia adjusted her crimson dress in the mirror, the fabric hugging her curves like a lover’s greedy hands. At 34, her ebony skin glowed under the soft bedroom light, her sharp eyes catching every detail of her reflection. She wasn’t just beautiful—she was a damn force, a lawyer who could cut through bullshit in the courtroom and at home. Tonight, though, her husband Marcus had been acting... off. All week, he’d been dropping hints about ‘spicing things up,’ and she wasn’t sure she liked where this was headed.

‘Babe, you ready?’ Marcus called from downstairs, his voice a mix of excitement and something sly. Nia rolled her eyes, slipping into her heels. She knew that tone. He was up to something.

When she descended the stairs, Marcus was there with a grin, his lean frame in a crisp shirt, but her gaze slid past him to the man beside him. Jake. Marcus’s college buddy, a white guy built like a linebacker, with a smirk that could charm the devil. His blue eyes raked over her, unapologetic, and Nia felt a flicker of heat she immediately smothered. No way. She wasn’t some naive girl to be flustered by a pretty face—or whatever else he was packing.

‘Damn, Nia, you look like you could kill a man with that dress,’ Jake drawled, his voice low and rough, like he’d already imagined her out of it.

‘And I might, if you keep staring like I’m on the menu,’ she shot back, crossing her arms, her tone sharp enough to cut glass. ‘What’s this about, Marcus? You said dinner, not a damn ambush.’

Marcus chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. ‘Just thought we’d have a little fun tonight. Jake’s in town, and I figured we could... hang out. You know, relax.’

‘Relax?’ Nia arched a brow, her gaze flicking between them. ‘I’m not buying it. You two look like you’ve already got a plan I’m not privy to.’

Jake stepped closer, his presence overwhelming, the scent of his cologne mixing with something primal. ‘Come on, Nia. You’re too smart to play coy. Marcus told me you’ve got a wild side. I’m just curious to see it.’

Her laugh was sharp, biting. ‘Oh, honey, you couldn’t handle my wild side if I handed it to you on a silver platter. And Marcus, if you think I’m some pawn in your little fantasy game, you’ve got another thing coming.’

But Marcus’s eyes gleamed with something dark, hungry. ‘I know you, babe. You’re curious. And I’m not asking for permission—I’m just... suggesting. One drink. See where the night takes us.’

Nia’s pulse quickened, irritation warring with a dangerous spark of intrigue. She wasn’t submissive, never had been, but the way Jake’s gaze lingered, the way Marcus seemed almost desperate for her to say yes—it was a challenge. And Nia never backed down from a challenge.

‘Fine,’ she said, her voice a purr laced with steel. ‘One drink. But if either of you thinks you’re in control here, you’re dead wrong.’

They moved to the living room, the tension thick as they sipped their drinks. Jake’s thigh brushed hers on the couch, deliberate, and she didn’t move away. Not because she couldn’t, but because she wanted to see how far he’d push. Marcus watched, his breath hitching, and Nia felt the power shift. She was the one steering this ship, even if they didn’t know it yet.

‘So, Jake,’ she said, her voice dripping with mock sweetness, ‘what’s your endgame here? You think you can just waltz in and turn my night upside down?’

He grinned, leaning in, his breath warm against her ear. ‘I think you’re already halfway there, Nia. I can see it in your eyes—you’re itching to break some rules.’

Her hand landed on his chest, not to push him away, but to feel the hard muscle beneath. ‘Careful, big boy. I break rules, not hearts. You might not survive me.’

Marcus shifted in his seat, his voice rough. ‘Nia, I want this. I want to see you... with him.’

Her gaze snapped to her husband, then back to Jake, whose smirk promised trouble. The air crackled, her body betraying her with a rush of heat. She wasn’t just curious now—she was hungry. And as Jake’s hand slid up her thigh, bold and unapologetic, Nia knew the night was about to explode.
