Adam nervously adjusted his tie as he stepped into his new office for the first time. The room was small, but cozy, with large windows that let in the warm sunlight. He had spent the last few months working from home, but he was excited to finally have a space of his own.

Adam felt his heart sink. "Please, Maria. I'm desperate. It would only be a one-time thing, and I would pay you well."
Maria was quiet for a moment, considering his offer. "I'll think about it," she finally said.
Adam felt a glimmer of hope. "Thank you, Maria. I really appreciate it."
Maria nodded and went back to work. Adam spent the rest of the day fantasizing about what could happen. He couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of being with her.
As Maria took her break, she overheard Adam talking to himself. "I can't believe I actually asked her. What was I thinking?"
