Nick slouched on the couch, his mind numb with boredom as he stared blankly at the TV. The house was quiet, save for the occasional giggle or stomp from Kaylee, who was playing in the other room. He checked his phone for the hundredth time, but there were no new messages.
"Hey Nick, why do you look so bored?" Kaylee asked, peeking into the living room.
Nick forced a smile. "I'm about to fall asleep from the excitement."
Kaylee's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Want to play a game?"
Nick raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"
"Truth or dare!" Kaylee said, her voice full of excitement.
Nick laughed. "You're on."
Kaylee's grin widened. "Okay, truth or dare?"
Nick thought for a moment. "Dare."
Kaylee's eyes twinkled. "I dare you to do a silly dance."
Nick rolled his eyes, but couldn't help but laugh. He stood up and did a ridiculous chicken dance, much to Kaylee's delight.
"Okay, your turn," Nick said, still chuckling.
Kaylee thought for a moment. "Truth."
Nick decided to keep it light. "Have you ever kissed anyone before?"
Kaylee blushed. "No."
Nick nodded. "Okay, your turn."
Kaylee's eyes twinkled again. "I dare you to show me your favorite stuffed animal."
Nick raised an eyebrow. "I don't have a stuffed animal."
Kaylee pouted. "Oh."
Nick smiled. "But I can show you my comic book collection."
Kaylee's face lit up. "Yes, please!"
After showing Kaylee his comics, Nick asked, "Truth or dare?"
Kaylee chose truth. "Have you ever been in love?"
Nick shifted awkwardly. "No, not yet."
Kaylee's eyes sparkled again. "I dare you to show me a magic trick."
Nick grinned. "Okay, here's one." He pulled a quarter from behind Kaylee's ear, making her gasp in delight.
As the night wore on, the questions and dares became more personal. Kaylee asked Nick if he'd ever had a crush, and Nick asked her what she thought love felt like.
"I think it's like being with someone who makes you happy," Kaylee said thoughtfully.
Nick was surprised by her answer. "That's a good way to put it."
Kaylee yawned. "Truth or dare?"
Nick smiled. "Dare."
Kaylee grinned. "I dare you to spend the night in the living room with me."
Nick raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
Kaylee nodded. "Yes, I want to."
Nick shrugged. "Okay, let's do it."
As they settled in for the night, Kaylee asked Nick more questions about love and relationships. Nick answered her honestly, adding a bit of humor to keep it from getting too serious.
As the night wore on, Nick found himself enjoying the conversation. He was impressed by Kaylee's curiosity and her ability to understand complex concepts. He realized that she was growing up fast, and that he had a lot to learn from her.
