Aniya started to apologize, “I want to take the time to-” but Persephone cut her off. “I’m not talking to you,” Persephone said coldly.
Aniya looked confused, “Why not?”
Persephone glared at her, “Because you’re the reason we’re dead and on our way to the underworld right now.”
Aniya tried to defend herself, “Hey, I wasn’t the one who killed you.”
Persephone rolled her eyes, “But you’re the reason I got stabbed and bled out. You couldn’t stop talking shit about other people, and I warned you not to say anything. But you did, and they stabbed us, and we bled out. So don’t talk to me until we get off this boat and into the underworld.”
Aniya looked down, embarrassed.
Persephone turned away from her and looked out at the river, lost in thought. After a few minutes of silence, Aniya spoke up again, “Can I at least ask you something?”
Persephone sighed, “What is it?”
Aniya asked, “Do you think Hades will be as scary as they say he is?”
Persephone chuckled, “I don’t know. But I do know one thing, if he tries anything, I’ll show him who’s boss.”
Aniya laughed, “That’s the Persephone I know, always so confident and direct.”
Persephone smirked, “That’s right, and don’t you forget it. Now, let’s focus on getting through this river and into the underworld. I have a feeling things are about to get interesting.”
Aniya nodded, “I’m right there with you, sis. Let’s do this.”
And with that, the two sisters continued their journey towards the underworld, their sharp and witty banter filling the air as they faced the unknown together.
