"Hey, Jax," Ethan began, gathering his courage. "Have you ever worried that I can't provide for you the way older men can?"
Jax burst out laughing, nearly spitting out her coffee. "Oh, Ethan, you and your youthful worries," she teased.
Ethan looked down, a hint of sadness in his eyes. Jax noticed this and reached out, taking his hand in hers.
"Ethan, I don't need a man to protect or provide for me," she said, her voice soft but firm. "I chose you because of your kindness, your humor, and the way you make me feel."
Ethan looked up, a small smile playing on his lips. Jax winked at him, saying, "Besides, who says I can't protect and provide for you?"
Ethan chuckled, his nerves easing. Jax's strong and controlling demeanor always had a way of making him feel better. She ordered them another round of coffee, teasing Ethan about his "caffeine addiction."
Ethan rolled his eyes, but couldn't help but smile. Jax's playful insults and strong personality were just a few of the many reasons he fell in love with her. They spent the rest of the afternoon in the coffee shop, engaging in witty banter and laughing at each other's jokes.
As they left the coffee shop, Ethan wrapped his arm around Jax's waist, pulling her close. Jax looked up at him, a smirk on her face. Ethan leaned down and whispered "I love you" in her ear.
Jax's smirk turned into a soft smile. She whispered back, "I love you too, now let's go home and show each other just how much."
They walked home, hand in hand, their laughter and love for each other filling the air. Jax's strong and controlling personality had once again put Ethan's worries to rest, and he couldn't wait to show her just how much she meant to him.
