Chapter 1: The Hike Heats Up
The sun blazed overhead as the group trekked through the rugged forest trail, pine needles crunching underfoot. Ezra, with his delicate frame and soft lavender hoodie, lagged behind the pack of tomboys who had roped him into this grueling hike. His long lashes fluttered as he wiped sweat from his brow, his pale cheeks flushed from exertion—or perhaps something else.
'Hey, princess, you gonna cry already?' barked Riley, the ringleader, her cropped hair sticking to her neck with sweat. She turned, hands on her hips, her toned legs flexing under tight cargo shorts. 'We’ve barely started, and you’re already whimpering like a lost puppy.'
Ezra’s lips trembled, but he shot back, 'Maybe if you didn’t drag me up this godforsaken hill like some kind of drill sergeant, I’d be fine, Riley. Ever think of that?'
The other girls—Jade and Maren—snickered, their eyes glinting with mischief. Jade, with her pierced brow and devil-may-care smirk, sauntered over, her tank top clinging to her muscular frame. 'Oh, come on, Ez. We’re just toughening you up. You’re too pretty to be this soft.' She flicked his chin, her touch lingering a second too long, her gaze dropping to his lips.
'Soft? I’ll show you soft when I leave you all in the dust,' Ezra snapped, though his voice wavered. His heart raced—not just from the climb, but from the way Maren’s dark eyes raked over him, her full lips curling into a predatory grin. She adjusted her backpack, her biceps flexing as she stepped closer.
'Big talk for a boy who looks like he’d blow over in a stiff breeze,' Maren teased, her voice low and husky. 'Bet you’d rather be blowing something else, huh?' Her words hung in the air, sharp and electric, as the group burst into laughter.
Ezra’s face burned, but he refused to back down. 'Keep dreaming, Maren. You couldn’t handle me even if I gave you a head start.'
Riley raised an eyebrow, stepping in so close he could feel the heat radiating off her. 'Is that a challenge, pretty boy? ‘Cause I’ve got no problem pinning you down right here and proving who’s in charge.' Her breath was hot against his ear, and Ezra’s knees nearly buckled, a confusing mix of humiliation and desire pooling in his gut.
They’d stopped near a secluded clearing, the trail winding away from prying eyes. The air was thick with tension, the scent of pine mixing with the raw, earthy smell of sweat. Jade tossed her pack down, her smirk widening. 'Let’s take a break. See if Ez can keep up with us off the trail, too.'
Maren licked her lips, her gaze unapologetic as it trailed down Ezra’s trembling form. 'Yeah, let’s play a little game. Strip away that shy boy act and see what’s underneath.'
Ezra’s breath hitched, his body betraying him as heat surged through him. He was cornered, outnumbered, and yet… there was a part of him that wanted to see how far this would go. Riley’s hand brushed his arm, her touch firm and deliberate, as she leaned in. 'Don’t cry now, princess. We’re just getting started.'
Their voices faded into a charged silence, the forest holding its breath as Riley’s fingers slid under the hem of his hoodie, her nails grazing his skin. Ezra’s gasp was swallowed by the rustle of leaves, his body tensing, aching, as the tomboys closed in, their laughter turning to something darker, hungrier. The game was on, and the trail was about to get a whole lot hotter.
