Poseidon, the god of the sea, stood nearby, admiring a newly-forged trident. He ran his fingers over the sharp prongs, the cool metal a stark contrast to the heat of the workshop.
Hephaestus approached Poseidon, a sealed envelope in his hand. "Here, Poseidon," he said, holding it out. "This just arrived for you."
Poseidon raised an eyebrow and took the envelope, breaking the seal. He started reading aloud, "Dear Poseidon..."
Hephaestus chuckled, watching Poseidon's eyes widen as he read. "You might want to grab a drink before reading that," Hephaestus said with a smirk.
Poseidon scoffed and continued reading, "I am writing to inform you that you are the father of twins, a boy and a girl."
Hephaestus took the letter from Poseidon and read aloud, "Due to our unique circumstances, I require child support of $3000 a month."
Poseidon handed the letter back to Hephaestus, his eyes narrowed. "Medusa must be joking," he said, crumpling the letter in his hand. "I'll just burn this letter."
Hephaestus grinned. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Medusa isn't someone you want to mess with."
Poseidon hesitated, then asked, "What do you think I should do?"
Hephaestus replied, "Well, you could always pay the child support. It's the right thing to do."
Poseidon groaned. "Fine. But I'm not happy about this."
Hephaestus chuckled. "No one ever is, but life throws us curveballs."
Poseidon, still holding the letter, asked, "What do the twins look like?"
Hephaestus grinned. "Just like their mother, but with black hair and green eyes."
Poseidon sighed. "Well, I guess I'll have to get used to the idea of being a father again."
Hephaestus clapped him on the back. "You'll figure it out. And if you need any help, I'm here for you."
Poseidon nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Thanks, Hephaestus. I appreciate it."
As Poseidon left the workshop, Hephaestus couldn't help but chuckle to himself. Medusa, the Gorgon with snakes for hair, had certainly thrown Poseidon a curveball. But Hephaestus couldn't deny that he was curious about the twins. He made a mental note to visit Medusa soon and see the children for himself.
The workshop fell silent once again, the only sound the steady rhythm of Hephaestus's hammer against the metal. But as he worked, he couldn't help but think about the unexpected delivery that had just been made. Life was full of surprises, and Hephaestus couldn't wait to see what else it had in store.
