Hephaestus straightened, wiping his hands on his apron as he approached Poseidon. "I have something for you, old friend," he said, a mischievous glint in his eye. He handed Poseidon a sealed envelope, the wax bearing the distinctive mark of Medusa.
Poseidon raised an eyebrow, taking the envelope with a hint of trepidation. "What's this?"
Hephaestus smirked. "It's a letter from Medusa. I thought you might want to take a look."
Poseidon rolled his eyes, muttering something under his breath as he broke the seal and unfolded the letter. His expression quickly changed from annoyance to shock. "You've got to be kidding me!" he exclaimed, waving the letter in the air.
Hephaestus, intrigued, walked back over to Poseidon, peering over his shoulder at the letter. "Well, I'll be damned," he said, a wide grin spreading across his face. "Medusa had twins, and you're their dad."
Poseidon scowled, handing the letter back to Hephaestus. "And how exactly is this my problem?"
Hephaestus chuckled, reading aloud, "It appears you need to pay $3000 a month for child support."
Poseidon spluttered, "3000 dollars?! That witch is trying to bleed me dry!"
Hephaestus grinned. "Well, you are the god of the sea, you could always just create some gold."
Poseidon shot Hephaestus a glare. "I can't believe this. I'll have to cut back on my lavish lifestyle."
Hephaestus laughed, clapping Poseidon on the back. "Welcome to fatherhood, my friend. It's a wild ride."
Poseidon grumbled, "I should have never slept with that meddlesome gorgon."
Hephaestus chuckled, "Ah, but then you would have never had these little bundles of joy."
Poseidon sighed, "I suppose you're right. But still, 3000 dollars is a steep price to pay."
Hephaestus shrugged, "Consider it a investment in your future. Who knows, these kids might grow up to be powerful gods and goddesses themselves."
Poseidon raised an eyebrow, "I hope they don't inherit their mother's temper."
Hephaestus laughed, "Well, only time will tell. But for now, let's focus on the present. I'm sure Medusa would love to hear from you."
Poseidon groaned, "I was hoping to avoid that."
Hephaestus grinned, "Ah, but that's all part of the fun, my friend. Now, let's get back to work. I have a feeling these twins are going to need all the help they can get."
And with that, the two gods returned to their work, the workshop once again filled with the sound of metal striking metal, the smell of fire and metal, and the promise of a new adventure.
