Poseidon walked in, his deep blue eyes scanning the room before settling on Hephaestus. "What's this?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at the envelope.
Hephaestus shrugged, "It's a letter from Medusa. She wanted you to have it."
Poseidon's expression soured as he made a move to toss the letter into the fire. But Hephaestus was quick on his feet, stepping forward and snatching the letter from Poseidon's grasp.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Hephaestus said, his tone firm.
Poseidon gave him a quizzical look, "And why not?"
Hephaestus took a deep breath before responding, "Because it's about child support."
Poseidon's face darkened as he snatched the letter back from Hephaestus and began to read. "Medusa had twins?" he asked, disbelief in his voice.
Hephaestus nodded, "Yes, a boy and a girl. They both have black hair and green eyes, just like their mother."
Poseidon's eyes widened as he read the amount he needed to pay, "Three thousand dollars a month?! She must be joking."
Hephaestus chuckled, "I don't think she's in a joking mood, Poseidon. She's a single mother now, and she needs all the help she can get."
Poseidon scoffed, "She's a monster, Hephaestus. Why should I help her?"
Hephaestus crossed his arms, "Because they're your children, Poseidon. And they deserve a chance at a good life."
Poseidon glared at Hephaestus before storming out of the workshop, leaving Hephaestus alone with a small smile on his face. He knew it wasn't going to be easy, but he was glad he was able to deliver the message.
He went back to work, but his mind kept wandering to the twins. He wondered how they were doing, if they were healthy and happy. He made a mental note to visit them soon, to see for himself.
As the day went on, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. He had done the right thing, and he knew it. He just hoped that Poseidon would come around and do the right thing too.
The workshop was filled with the sounds of hammering and the smell of hot metal, but Hephaestus couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. He had stood up for what was right, and he wasn't going to back down. He was going to make sure those twins had a chance at a good life, no matter what it took.
