Triton's Tribute: When Hephaestus and Poseidon Got More Than They Bargained For from Medusa's Mysterious Envelope

Chapter One: The Unexpected Letter

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm glow over Hephaestus's workshop by the sea. The god of fire was in the midst of a meeting with Poseidon, the mighty lord of the ocean, when he handed his counterpart an envelope with a letter nestled inside.

"What's this?" Poseidon asked, eyeing the envelope skeptically.

"Just open it," Hephaestus urged, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth.

Poseidon sighed, rolling his eyes before breaking the seal and unfolding the letter. As he scanned the page, his expression shifted from curiosity to annoyance. "This is from Medusa, isn't it?"

Hephaestus nodded, unable to contain his amusement. "Indeed it is. I thought you might want to have a look."

Poseidon crumpled the letter in his hand, scowling. "Burn it. I don't have time for this."

But Hephaestus was quick, snatching the letter from Poseidon's grasp before he could toss it into the fire. "Oh, I think you'll want to read this one. It's quite... illuminating."

With a huff, Poseidon took the letter back, his eyes narrowing as he read the words written in Medusa's unmistakable hand. When he finished, he looked at Hephaestus, his disbelief clear. "She wants child support? For twins?"

Hephaestus chuckled. "Yes, it seems she's quite the busy bee. A boy and a girl, can you believe it?"

Poseidon threw the letter on the ground, his frustration boiling over. "This is ridiculous. I can't believe I'm being asked to pay for children I never even wanted."

Hephaestus picked up the letter, shaking his head. "You have a responsibility, Poseidon. You can't just abandon them because you don't feel like dealing with the consequences."

Poseidon scoffed. "And who are you to lecture me about responsibility? The god of fire, who can't even keep his own wife happy?"

Hephaestus shot back, his voice sharp. "At least I don't run away from my problems like a coward. I face them head on, even when it's difficult."

Poseidon bristled, his pride wounded. "I have a kingdom to run, Hephaestus. I can't be bothered with every little problem that comes my way."

But Hephaestus was relentless. "You had a responsibility to protect Medusa, but instead you abandoned her. You can't just wash your hands of this, Poseidon. You need to step up and be a father to your children."

Poseidon sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "Fine. I'll take care of it."

Hephaestus nodded, satisfied. "Good. I'm glad we had this little chat. I was starting to worry about you."

Poseidon shot him a withering look before disappearing in a burst of sea foam, leaving Hephaestus alone in his workshop, a wry smile on his face.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the workshop in shadows, Hephaestus couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Medusa may have been strong and controlling, but she wasn't afraid to ask for what she deserved. And in a world full of gods who thought they were above it all, it was refreshing to see someone take charge.

He picked up the letter, smoothing it out before tucking it away in a drawer. It was a reminder that even the mightiest of gods couldn't escape the consequences of their actions. And it was a reminder that, sometimes, all it took was a little push to do the right thing.
