Triton's Troubles: When Hephaestus Handles Medusa's Maintenance Mandate And now, here's a short story with the requested style, humor, and characters: Hephaestus, his dark brown hair tousled from the forge's heat, handed the envelope to Poseidon. The sea god looked at it with a furrowed brow. What's this, Hephaestus? Oh, just a letter from Medusa, Hephaestus replied nonchalantly, trying to suppress a smirk. Poseidon rolled his eyes. Can't you just toss it into the ocean and let the waves deal with it? I would, but it seems important. Hephaestus opened the letter and scanned its contents. His smile widened. What is it? Poseidon asked, growing impatient. Well, it appears Medusa's been busy. She's had twins - a boy and a girl, both with her striking green eyes and raven hair. Poseidon snatched the letter from Hephaestus's hands. Twins? How is that even possible? Let's just say she's quite... flexible, Hephaestus chuckled. Poseidon scowled. And why am I reading about this? Because, dear Poseidon, it seems you have a new financial responsibility. Medusa's requesting $3000 a month for child support. Poseidon spluttered, What? That's preposterous! I'll turn her into seaweed! Hephaestus patted him on the shoulder. I wouldn't recommend that. She's got quite the temper. Plus, you don't want to upset the kids, do you? Poseidon grumbled, Fine. I'll pay. But only because you're my friend, Hephaestus. And because I don't want any cursed children. Hephaestus laughed, Well, they might be a handful, but I'm sure they'll be charming. After all, they did inherit their mother's eyes.

The workshop was filled with the usual sounds of metal striking metal, the rhythmic pounding a comforting backdrop to the daily life of Hephaestus. But today, there was a different kind of energy in the air. A godly energy, if you will.

Poseidon, the god of the sea, stood before Hephaestus, his blue eyes scanning a sealed envelope with curiosity. Hephaestus, with his dark brown hair and tan skin, gave him a casual smile.

"What's this, Hephaestus?" Poseidon asked, his voice tinged with annoyance.

"It's a letter from Medusa," Hephaestus replied, his tone nonchalant.

Poseidon rolled his eyes, "Just burn it. I don't want to hear from that snake-haired witch."

Hephaestus chuckled, "I wish it were that easy. But you might want to take a look at this." He opened the envelope and pulled out the letter.

Poseidon grabbed the letter from Hephaestus and read it, his expression changing from annoyance to shock. "Medusa had twins?" He asked, disbelief in his voice.

Hephaestus nodded, "Yes, a boy and a girl. And it seems they need your support."

Poseidon scanned the letter again, "3000 dollars a month? That's outrageous!"

Hephaestus raised an eyebrow, "I think it's only fair. After all, they are your children."

Poseidon scoffed, "I barely even know her. And those kids are probably monsters just like her."

Hephaestus chuckled, "Well, they did inherit her green eyes and black hair."

Poseidon glared at Hephaestus, "You find this funny?"

Hephaestus shrugged, "I find life funny. Especially when it throws unexpected curveballs like this."

Poseidon sighed, "Fine. I'll pay. But only because I don't need Medusa coming after me."

Hephaestus grinned, "That's the spirit."

The two gods continued their banter, but Hephaestus couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. He had always been a fan of the unexpected, and this situation was certainly that. He couldn't wait to see how Poseidon would handle fatherhood.

But for now, he had work to do. He picked up his hammer and got back to work, the sounds of metal striking metal filling the workshop once again.
