Tutoring Temptations: Kira's Steamy Lesson

### Chapter One: Tutoring with a Twist

Kira’s apartment was a chaotic little sanctuary of academia, a shoebox of a space crammed with teetering stacks of textbooks, empty coffee mugs forming a ceramic skyline on the counter, and a desk that looked like it had survived a war or two. The late afternoon sun filtered through a cracked blind, casting stripes of light across the room as she sat cross-legged in her chair, blue hair spilling over one shoulder, round glasses perched on her nose like a librarian’s battle armor. At five-foot-nothing, she was a pint-sized powerhouse, all sharp edges and sharper wit, and right now, her patience was wearing thinner than the threadbare rug under her feet.

Across from her, sprawled in a chair that groaned under his weight, was Max. The high school jock was a walking stereotype—broad shoulders, biceps that could probably bench-press her entire desk, and a jawline so chiseled it could cut glass. He was supposed to be solving algebra equations, but his pencil hadn’t moved in ten minutes, and his hazel eyes kept drifting from the worksheet to the curve of Kira’s hips in her tight black leggings. She caught the latest glance and slammed her own pencil down with a crack that made him flinch.

“Eyes on the paper, meathead,” she snapped, her voice a whip of authority laced with mockery. “I’m not charging you fifty bucks an hour to ogle me like I’m the halftime show at your little football games.”

Max grinned, unfazed, leaning back in his chair with the kind of lazy confidence that only an eighteen-year-old with a varsity letter could muster. “Can’t help it, Miss K. You’re more interesting than x plus y. Way better curves, too.”

Kira’s eyebrows shot up, her lips twitching between a scowl and a smirk. She pushed her glasses up her nose and leaned forward, her small frame radiating a don’t-test-me energy that could’ve stopped a charging bull. “Oh, please. Spare me the locker room charm. If your brain worked half as hard as your mouth, we’d be done with this quadratic nonsense by now. Focus, or I’ll start charging by the stare.”

He chuckled, a low rumble that vibrated through the cramped space, and scratched the back of his neck, flexing a bicep in the process—whether by accident or design, Kira couldn’t tell. “Hey, I’m tryin’. But it’s hard to focus when my tutor’s got me all... distracted.” His eyes flicked down again, bold and unapologetic, lingering on the way her tank top clung to her chest.

Kira rolled her eyes so hard she nearly sprained something, but a flush crept up her neck despite herself. She stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor, and circled around to his side of the desk, her movements deliberate, almost predatory. “Alright, let’s see what mess you’ve made of this problem. And keep your eyes on the numbers, not my assets, or I’ll make you solve for x with a ruler to the knuckles.”

She leaned over his shoulder to point at the worksheet, her arm brushing against his as she tapped a particularly egregious error with her pencil. The proximity hit her like a sucker punch—his cologne, a mix of cedar and something infuriatingly masculine, filled her senses, and the heat radiating off his frame made the room feel ten degrees hotter. Her breath hitched for a split second, and she cursed herself for it.

Max turned his head just enough to meet her gaze, his smirk widening into something downright dangerous. “You’re real close, Miss K. Sure you don’t wanna tutor me in somethin’ else?” His voice dropped an octave, suggestive and teasing, as his knee nudged hers under the desk.

Kira straightened up so fast she nearly knocked over a mug, her heart pounding traitorously in her chest. She crossed her arms, glaring down at him with a look that could’ve melted steel. “Watch it, jockstrap. I’m not some cheerleader you can sweet-talk into the bleachers. You’re here to learn, not flirt your way into a failing grade—or worse.”

“Worse?” Max echoed, his grin turning wicked as he leaned forward, elbows on the desk, closing the distance between them again. “What’s worse? ‘Cause I’m thinkin’ maybe I’d like to find out.”

Her jaw tightened, but the air between them crackled, electric and heavy. She could feel the pull, the dangerous thrill of his audacity, and it pissed her off how much it got under her skin. She stepped closer, her voice low and cutting, each word dripping with control. “You’re playing a game you can’t win, Max. I’m not some giddy schoolgirl who swoons over a pretty face and a tight jersey. Push me, and I’ll have you reciting formulas in your sleep just to prove a point.”

His eyes gleamed with challenge, and he reached out, his fingers brushing the edge of her wrist as if testing the waters. “I like a challenge, Miss K. And I’m real good at pushin’.”

The touch sent a jolt through her, sharp and unwelcome, and for a moment, Kira’s iron grip on her composure wavered. Her lips parted, a retort on the tip of her tongue, but the heat in his gaze and the lingering ghost of his fingers on her skin stopped her cold. She was the one in charge here—always had been, always would be—but the way her pulse raced told her she was treading dangerously close to a line she’d never crossed with a student before.

She pulled her wrist back, stepping away with a forced scoff, her mind racing as she fought to reclaim the upper hand. “Keep dreaming, kid. Lesson’s over for today. Come back when you’ve got more brain than bravado.”

Max stood, towering over her as he slung his backpack over one shoulder, that infuriating smirk still plastered on his face. “See you next time, Miss K. I’ll be ready to... study hard.”

As the door clicked shut behind him, Kira sank into her chair, her breath uneven, her fingers trembling just slightly as she pushed her glasses up. The room felt emptier, but the tension lingered, thick and unresolved, curling around her like smoke. She’d always been the one in control, the one who called the shots—but for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t sure if she’d won this round. And worse, a tiny, traitorous part of her wasn’t sure she wanted to.
