Cady, the goddess of inventions and technology, stood in front of the ornate mirror in the royal chambers of Mount Olympus, clutching her stomach and looking pale. She had always had a hearty appetite, but suddenly the thought of her favorite ambrosia and nectar turned her off. She muttered to herself, "Could it be a stomach bug? I hope it's not serious."
With a half-joking smile, she reached for a pregnancy test that she had stashed away in her drawer. "Now, this would be funny," she thought, "if I was actually pregnant." She took the test and set it on the counter, turning away to give it a moment. When she turned back, her heart skipped a beat. Two pink lines glared back at her. Cady's mind raced. "This can't be right. I must have done something wrong." She took another test, and the result was the same.
Cady took a deep breath and braced herself to tell Hephaestus, her husband and the god of fire. They had always joked about the low chances of them having children due to Hephaestus's infertility. She found him in the adjoining room, hammering away at a new invention. "Hephaestus," she began, her voice shaky, "we need to talk."
Hephaestus, sensing her distress, set down his hammer and turned to face her. Cady held up the positive pregnancy test, her eyes wide with shock. Hephaestus stared at it for a moment, then burst into a wide grin. He pulled Cady into a tight hug, laughing. "My love, we're going to be parents!"
Cady, still in shock, couldn't help but laugh along with him. "I can't believe it. I thought for sure I had done something wrong with the test."
Hephaestus chuckled, "Well, it seems like the gods have blessed us with a miracle."
Cady and Hephaestus shared a playful insult or two, as they often did. Cady teased Hephaestus about his cooking skills, "I hope you've been practicing, because you're going to have two little ones to feed soon."
Hephaestus shot back, "And I hope you've been working on your tinkering skills, because you're going to have two little ones to fix soon."
A week later, Cady and Hephaestus went to the hospital for an ultrasound. Cady was nervous, but Hephaestus held her hand and reassured her. The ultrasound technician revealed that Cady was pregnant with twins. Cady and Hephaestus were in disbelief, but soon their shock turned into excitement.
Cady and Hephaestus couldn't wait to tell their family the news. They invited the main 12 gods (Athena, Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Ares, Hermes, Persephone, Hades) to their chambers for a celebratory dinner.
The gods arrived, and Cady and Hephaestus made their announcement. The room was filled with gasps and congratulations. Athena teased Cady about how she'll have her hands full with two babies. Cady playfully insulted Athena back, saying she'll need all the help she can get from the wise goddess.
Zeus joked about how he'll have to make room for two more gods in the pantheon. Cady and Hephaestus laughed, but Cady reminded him that she's the goddess of inventions and technology, and their children will be just as powerful.
Hera complimented Cady on her strength and courage, and offered to help her in any way she can. Cady graciously accepted, and the two goddesses shared a warm moment. Demeter offered to throw a baby shower for Cady, and Cady excitedly accepted.
Poseidon teased Hephaestus about how he'll have to build twice the number of cradles. Hephaestus laughed and said he's up for the challenge. Aphrodite offered to help Cady with any beauty or fashion advice she might need. Cady laughed and said she'll need all the help she can get with two babies.
Ares and Hermes offered to teach the twins how to fight and use technology, respectively. Cady and Hephaestus thanked them and said they'll take them up on their offer. Persephone and Hades offered their congratulations and said they're excited to meet the twins. Cady and Hephaestus thanked them and said they can't wait for their arrival.
The night ended with laughter and joy, as the gods celebrated the upcoming arrival of the twins. Cady and Hephaestus can't wait for this new chapter in their lives.
As Cady lay in bed that night, she couldn't help but feel a sense of peace. She had always been a strong, controlling, and direct woman, but now she felt a new sense of vulnerability. She knew that the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but she was ready to face it with Hephaestus by her side.
"Hephaestus," she whispered, "I love you."
"I love you too, Cady," he replied, pulling her close. "We're going to be great parents."
Cady smiled, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation for the future. She drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the two little miracles that were growing inside of her.
