The Goddess's Bedchamber was bathed in a warm, golden light as Brigette, the goddess of fun and joy, playfully teased her husband Apollo, the god of the sun. She had light pink hair that cascaded down her back in soft waves, and her dark eyes sparkled with mischief as she held a small gift box behind her back.
"Come on, Apollo," she said, her voice dripping with amusement. "You know you want to know what's in here."
Apollo, intrigued, tried to reach for the box, but Brigette deftly moved it out of his reach. "Fine, fine," he said, holding up his hands in surrender. "I give up. Just tell me what it is."
Brigette grinned, her eyes twinkling with delight. "Nope," she said, shaking her head. "You have to open it yourself."
With a flourish, she presented the box to Apollo. He looked at her, then at the box, then back at her again. "Alright, alright," he said, taking the box from her. "I'll play along."
He carefully lifted the lid of the box and peered inside. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he pulled out an ultrasound picture. He looked at Brigette, then back at the picture, then back at Brigette again.
"Brigette..." he began, his voice barely above a whisper. "Is this...is this what I think it is?"
Brigette's grin widened as she announced, "Yes, my love! I am pregnant!"
Apollo was shocked. Overwhelmed with emotion, he pulled Brigette into a tight embrace, his heart pounding with joy and excitement. "Oh, my goddess," he murmured, his lips pressed against her forehead. "I can't believe it. I'm going to be a father."
Brigette laughed and pushed him away gently. "Of course you are, silly," she said. "You were there when it happened, after all."
The two began to bicker playfully, with Brigette insisting that she was the one who was in control of the situation and Apollo arguing that he should be the one making the decisions.
"I can't believe you didn't tell me sooner," Apollo said, his voice tinged with annoyance. "I had a right to know."
Brigette rolled her eyes. "Oh, please," she said. "You would have just worried about everything and driven me crazy. I wanted to enjoy the news for myself first."
Apollo tried to protest, but Brigette cut him off. "You can't control everything, Apollo," she said, her voice firm. "Especially when it comes to the miracle of life."
Apollo, still in shock, tried to process the news. He asked Brigette how she was feeling and if she needed anything.
Brigette rolled her eyes and told him that she was fine, but that she could use some help around the house.
Apollo, eager to please, offered to do whatever Brigette needed.
Brigette, still in control, told Apollo that he could start by cooking her dinner.
Apollo, slightly insulted, protested that he was the god of the sun, not the god of the kitchen.
Brigette laughed and told him that he could be whatever she wanted him to be.
Apollo, defeated, agreed to cook dinner.
The chapter ended with Brigette watching Apollo cook, a smug smile on her face. She knew that she was the one in control, and she was going to enjoy every moment of it.
