Unwanted Heat: A Dangerous Reunion

Unwanted Heat: A Dangerous Reunion

Chapter 1: The Intrusion

Chae Ara-yeon lounged on her worn-out couch, a bowl of popcorn balanced on her lap, the remote in her hand. Her day off was a sacred escape, a quiet bubble of solitude in her otherwise hectic life as a graphic designer. The opening credits of her favorite drama flickered on the screen when the sharp chime of the doorbell sliced through her peace. She sighed, setting the popcorn aside, and shuffled to the door in her oversized sweater and leggings, expecting a delivery.

The door swung open, and her breath caught in her throat. Seo Ji-ho stood there, all sharp jawline and smoldering eyes, his tailored suit screaming money and arrogance. His lips curled into a wicked smirk as he leaned against the frame, looking like he owned the damn building. Ara-yeon’s stomach twisted—half dread, half something she refused to name. She hadn’t seen him since their messy fallout two years ago, and she’d prayed she never would.

“Well, damn, Ara-yeon,” Ji-ho drawled, his voice a low, teasing purr. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Or is it just that you’ve missed me so much you’re speechless?”

Her jaw tightened, and she gripped the door, ready to slam it in his face. “What the hell are you doing here, Ji-ho? I didn’t invite you, and I sure as fuck don’t want you in my space.”

He chuckled, dark and dangerous, and before she could react, he pushed the door open with a casual shove, stepping inside like he belonged there. The click of the lock behind him echoed like a gunshot in her small apartment. Ara-yeon backed up instinctively, her heart racing, but Ji-ho was already closing the distance, his presence suffocating.

“You’ve got some nerve,” she snapped, crossing her arms over her chest, trying to shield herself from the heat radiating off him. “Get out before I call someone.”

“Call who? Your little drama characters?” He grinned, stepping closer, his fingers brushing a strand of hair from her face. She swatted his hand away, but he didn’t flinch, his touch lingering in the air between them. “Come on, Ara-yeon. You and I both know you’ve been thinking about me. Late at night, when it’s just you and those pretty little fingers of yours.”

Her face burned, but she refused to look away, her glare sharp enough to cut glass. “You’re disgusting. I don’t think about you at all, except maybe to curse your name. Now get the hell out.”

Ji-ho’s eyes darkened, and he backed her against the wall, his hands bracing on either side of her, caging her in. His scent—expensive cologne and raw masculinity—hit her like a wave, and she hated how her body reacted, a traitor to her mind. “Oh, sweetheart, you’re lying through those gorgeous teeth,” he murmured, his lips hovering inches from hers. “I can see it in your eyes. You’re pissed, sure, but you’re also curious. You remember how good it was, don’t you? How I made you scream my name?”

Ara-yeon’s breath hitched, but she shoved against his chest, her nails digging into his shirt. “Back off, Ji-ho. I’m not some toy for you to play with whenever you’re bored. You don’t get to waltz in here and—”

Her words died as his hand slid down her side, bold and unapologetic, grazing the curve of her hip. “I’m not playing, Ara-yeon,” he whispered, his voice rough with intent. “I’ve been thinking about you for two fucking years. How your skin feels under my hands, how you taste when you’re dripping for me. Tell me you don’t want this, and I’ll walk away. But you’ve gotta mean it.”

Her pulse thundered, a war raging between her anger and the undeniable pull of his touch. She hated him—god, she hated him—but her body was already betraying her, heat pooling low in her belly. She opened her mouth to tell him to fuck off, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, her eyes locked with his, and she saw the hunger there, raw and unrelenting. His hand tightened on her hip, pulling her closer, and she felt the hard press of him against her, a promise of everything she swore she’d never want again.

“Say it,” he growled, his lips brushing her ear now, sending shivers down her spine. “Tell me to stop, or I’m gonna take you right here against this wall, and I won’t hold back.”

Ara-yeon’s resolve wavered, her hands fisting in his shirt—not to push him away, but to pull him closer. Her mind screamed no, but her body was already arching toward him, desperate for the friction, the release she hadn’t felt in far too long. And as his lips crashed down toward hers, she knew she was about to make a mistake she’d regret—but fuck, it was going to feel so good.
