Wedding Bells and Handcuffs: When the Bride's the One Calling the Shots

Chapter One: The Wedding Ultimatum

Sofia sat on their cozy living room couch, her legs crossed and a glass of wine in hand. She looked at Alex, her husband of five years, who was engrossed in a blueprint spread out on the coffee table.

"You'd think a man as handsome as you would be more excited about a wedding!" Sofia playfully insulted, her eyes sparkling with desire.

Alex looked up from his work, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I'm more excited about this new project, my love."

Sofia rolled her eyes, "Oh, you and your work. I swear, if it weren't for my constant nagging, you'd forget to eat!"

Alex chuckled, "Now, that's not true. Besides, I have you to remind me of the important things in life."

Sofia took control of the conversation, setting her wine glass down on the table. "Alex, we've been together for five years, and I want to make it official. I want us to get married."

Alex hesitated, "I thought we were already married, in our own way."

Sofia emphasized, "Yes, but there's something special about making a commitment in front of our family and friends. I want to celebrate our love."

Alex shared his concerns, "But what about the financial burden of a wedding? We could use that money for something else, like a down payment on a house."

Sofia, quick-witted and confident, retorted, "Since when did you become such a penny-pincher? I'll take care of the finances, you just worry about looking dapper in a tux."

Alex, unable to resist Sofia's charm and determination, finally agreed, "Alright, we'll start planning the wedding."

Sofia, elated, jumped up from the couch and embraced him, whispering, "You won't regret this, my love."

The couple began discussing the details of their wedding, from the venue to the guest list. Sofia, with her strong and direct nature, took charge of the planning process.

"I was thinking of a small, intimate ceremony," Alex suggested.

Sofia approved, "I like that idea. We can keep it simple and elegant."

As the conversation continued, Alex confessed, "I've been nervous about the idea of a wedding. I didn't want to disappoint you if things didn't go as planned."

Sofia, understanding and compassionate, reassured him, "We'll face any challenges together. It's you and me, against the world."

The couple's playful banter continued, with Sofia taking jabs at Alex's initial resistance and Alex teasing Sofia about her wedding planning obsession.

Sofia, with a mischievous grin, said, "I can't wait to make you my husband, Alex."

Alex, feeling more at ease, responded, "And I can't wait to call you my wife, Sofia."

The couple shared a tender moment, reminding each other of their love and commitment. They both knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one filled with even more love, laughter, and happiness.
