When Hermes Came Barging In: A Witch's Tale of Love, Labor, and Laughter

Chapter One: A Surprise Arrival

The birthing chamber of the palace was a flurry of activity as Circe, the powerful witch, writhed in pain on a bed of soft furs and pillows. Her loyal nymphs moved around her, trying their best to soothe her as she labored. Circe's face was contorted in agony, but her determination never wavered. She was going to see this through, no matter what.

Echo, Circe's sassy best friend, was by her side, offering words of encouragement. "Come on, Circe, you can do this," she said, her voice full of confidence. "You're stronger than any god I know."

Circe shot Echo a playful glare. "Easy for you to say," she gasped, her breath coming in short bursts. "You're not the one pushing a baby out of your-" She was cut off by another contraction, and Echo quickly changed the subject.

Circe's thoughts drifted to Hermes, the father of her child. Their relationship had been passionate and intense, but it had also been fraught with arguments and disagreements. Eventually, they had decided to part ways, but Circe had no idea that she was pregnant until a few days ago. She had been in denial at first, but there was no denying it now. She was in labor, and there was nothing she could do but see it through.

Suddenly, the doors to the birthing chamber burst open, and Hermes strode in. He looked worried, and Circe couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. She had wanted to tell him about the baby, but she had been afraid of how he would react.

Hermes took in the scene, his eyes landing on Circe's sweat-covered body. "Circe," he said, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay? And the baby?"

Circe's nymphs parted, revealing a tiny bundle in the arms of one of them. "We're both fine," Circe said, her voice strained. "Say hello to your daughter, Hermes."

Hermes approached, his face filled with awe. He looked at the baby, then at Circe. "I had no idea," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry, Circe. I should have been there for you."

Circe's heart softened. She had been angry with Hermes, but seeing him now, she couldn't help but feel a sense of forgiveness. "It's okay," she said. "We're in this together now."

Hermes took a seat next to Circe, and they sat in silence for a few moments, taking in the miracle of their child.

Echo, unable to resist, broke the silence. "Well, someone certainly has a case of 'fatherly love'," she teased, winking at Hermes. He rolled his eyes, but there was a smile on his face.

Circe laughed, then groaned as another contraction hit. "Echo, enough," she said. "I need to focus."

Echo winked at Hermes and took her leave, leaving the two of them alone with their newborn daughter.

Circe looked at Hermes, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you for being here," she said.

Hermes took her hand and squeezed it. "I wouldn't miss it for the world," he said.

And as they sat there, watching their daughter sleep, Circe couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the future. She and Hermes may have had their differences, but they were a family now, and nothing was more important than that.
