When Ivory Met the Gods: A Thanksgiving to Remember

Chapter One: A Family Affair

The grand dining hall of Mount Olympus was alive with the sound of laughter and chatter as Hephaestus, accompanied by myself and our adopted daughter Ivory, made our way to the long dining table. The room was adorned with golden columns and vibrant frescoes, a sight to behold.

Momus, the god of mockery, slapped Hephaestus on the back as we approached. "Glad you could make it, buddy!" he exclaimed. "At least someone here knows how to work with their hands."

Hephaestus grumbled a response, his face reddening. Momus was always quick with a jab, but Hephaestus had long since learned to ignore his barbs. We made our way to the table, where Aphrodite sat, her golden hair cascading down her shoulders. She sneered at us as we approached. "What are you thankful for this year, ugly?" she said, her voice dripping with venom.

Without missing a beat, Ivory chirped, "I'm thankful I only have to see you once a year!" The table erupted in laughter, and Aphrodite's face turned a deep shade of red. Momus chuckled and said, "At least I have my G.E.D." Ivory tilted her head and retorted, "But do you know where your D.A.D is?" More laughter ensued, and Momus looked taken aback.

Zeus, who was sitting at the head of the table, boomed, "That attitude ain't never leaving!" Ivory smiled sweetly and replied, "But your first two wives did." The room fell silent for a moment before erupting in laughter once again. I exchanged a proud glance with Hephaestus as the feast continued, the gods and goddesses indulging in nectar and ambrosia, while Ivory entertained them with her wit and charm.

Hera, who was sitting next to Zeus, leaned in and whispered something in his ear. Zeus' face darkened, and he said, "Enough, Hephaestus. It's time for you and your daughter to leave."

Hephaestus stood up, his chair scraping against the marble floor. "Fine," he said gruffly. "But we'll be back next year."

As we made our way out of the dining hall, I heard Aphrodite mutter, "I can't believe that brat." Ivory turned around and said, "Believe it, because you'll be seeing a lot more of me in the future."

Once we were outside, Hephaestus ruffled Ivory's hair and said, "You were amazing in there. You remind me of your mother."

Ivory looked up at him and said, "Who was she, dad?" Hephaestus sighed and said, "She was a goddess, just like them. But she was kinder, stronger, and more beautiful than any of them."

We walked hand in hand with Hephaestus and Ivory, the cool breeze of Mount Olympus rustling our hair. I couldn't help but feel grateful for this unconventional family of ours.

As we reached the entrance of the palace, Hephaestus turned to me and said, "Thank you for adopting Ivory. She's the light of my life."

I smiled and said, "She's the light of mine too." Ivory hugged both of us and said, "I love you both."

The three of us walked back to our home, the laughter and chaos of the gods and goddesses fading away as we embraced the peace and warmth of our own little family.
