The grandiose dining hall of Mount Olympus was a spectacle to behold, filled with the clamor of boisterous deities engaging in animated conversations. Hephaestus, I, and Ivory made our way through the crowded hall, weaving between the gods and goddesses as they laughed and talked.
As we walked, I noticed Aphrodite, the goddess of love, lounging on a golden chaise. She sneered as she laid eyes on me, causing a ripple of discomfort to spread amongst the nearby deities. Without missing a beat, Ivory turned to me and said, “I’m thankful I only have to see her once a year,” causing a ripple of laughter to spread.
Momus, the god of mockery, attempted to save face by boasting about his G.E.D, but Ivory quickly retorted, “But do you know where your D.A.D is?” Momus spluttered in indignation, causing Zeus, who was currently married to Hera, to chuckle and say, “That attitude ain’t never leaving.”
Ivory, with a mischievous glint in her eye, replied, “But your first two wives did.” The room fell silent, and I could feel the tension building as the deities exchanged uncomfortable glances. Hephaestus, sensing the impending chaos, quickly ushered Ivory and me away from the scene, muttering under his breath about “ungrateful children” and “disrespectful company.”
As we made our way to our seats, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and admiration for Ivory’s quick wit and fearlessness. We exchanged amused glances with Hephaestus, who shook his head and said, “She’s just like you, always causing trouble.”
I laughed and agreed, taking my seat next to Hephaestus as the feast began. Throughout the meal, I couldn’t help but notice the lingering glances and hushed whispers from the other deities, no doubt still reeling from Ivory’s playful insults. Despite the tension, I found myself enjoying the company of the other gods and goddesses, engaging in light-hearted banter and playful teasing.
As the night wore on, I found myself growing more and more attached to the eccentric and unpredictable world of Mount Olympus. As we left the dining hall, arm in arm with Hephaestus and Ivory, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the chaos and laughter that comes with being a part of the divine family.
