The Olympian mansion was alive with the sounds of laughter and chatter as Hephaestus, I, and Ivory walked into the dining room. The room was filled with the mouth-watering aroma of a traditional Thanksgiving feast, and the table was laden with all the trimmings.
"What are you thankful for this year, ugly?" Aphrodite sneered, sauntering over to us with a glass of champagne in hand. I could feel the tension in the air as she spoke, her words laced with venom.
Without missing a beat, Ivory retorted, "I'm thankful I only have to see you once a year." The room erupted in laughter, and Aphrodite's face turned a deep shade of scarlet.
Momus, the god of mockery, chimed in with a self-deprecating joke, "At least I have my G.E.D."
Ivory, never one to back down, quipped back, "But do you know where your D.A.D is?" The room erupted in laughter once again, and Momus looked taken aback.
Zeus, who was currently married to Hera, boomed, "That attitude ain't never leaving."
Ivory, with a mischievous glint in her eye, retorted, "But your first two wives did." The room fell silent, and Zeus looked taken aback.
Hera, the goddess of marriage, shot me a grateful look, silently thanking me for adopting Ivory and raising her to be such a strong-willed and confident young girl.
The rest of the evening was filled with playful banter and laughter as we all dug into the delicious feast laid out before us. As the night wore on, I found myself feeling grateful for the family I had, both by blood and by choice.
I stole a glance at Hephaestus, who was deep in conversation with Dionysus, the god of wine. I felt a warmth spread through my chest as I took in his rugged features and kind eyes.
Aphrodite, still smarting from Ivory's earlier comment, tried to flirt with Hephaestus, but he politely brushed her off, making his way over to me.
He leaned in close, whispering in my ear, "I'm thankful for you, every day." My heart skipped a beat as I took in his words, feeling a warmth spread through my entire body.
The night came to a close, and I found myself feeling grateful for the love and laughter that filled my life, thanks to my unconventional family. As we drove home with Hephaestus and Ivory, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment and happiness, knowing that I had everything I could ever want in this world.
