The room was thick with tension as Brigitte, the goddess of home and hearth, lay in the birthing bed. Her light pink hair was damp with sweat, and her dark eyes were screwed shut in pain. Apollo, her husband and the god of the sun, stood by her side, looking pale and close to fainting.
"Come on, Brigitte. You can do this," Apollo said, trying to sound strong for his wife. But the sight of her in such agony was almost too much for him to bear.
Brigitte, however, was not one to be defeated easily. Even in the throes of labor, she couldn't help but tease her husband. "Apollo, darling, you're turning as white as a ghost. Man up and stop being such a drama queen," she said through gritted teeth.
Apollo took a deep breath and held her hand, trying to be the rock that Brigitte needed. And finally, after what felt like an eternity, Brigitte gave birth to a beautiful baby boy with curly blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
Apollo cut the umbilical cord and handed the baby to Brigitte. She held him close, feeling a rush of love and joy that she had never experienced before. "Welcome to the world, Solace," she whispered, tears of happiness streaming down her face.
A week later, the rest of the family was allowed to come and see the baby. They all cooed and awwed over him, but when it was Momus's turn to hold him, Brigitte felt a twinge of unease. Momus, the god of mockery and satire, had a sharp tongue and harsh critiques.
Momus started tossing Solace in the air, much to Brigitte's dismay. "Momus, stop it!" she said, her voice tight with fear. But Momus just laughed and tossed the baby higher.
Brigitte's fear turned to panic as Solace started to fall. She lunged forward, catching him just in time. She glared at Momus, her eyes narrowed. "Get out," she said, her voice low and dangerous.
Momus, not used to being spoken to in such a way, was taken aback. He opened his mouth to protest, but Brigitte cut him off. "I said, get out," she repeated, her voice firm.
Realizing that he'd pushed Brigitte too far, Momus quickly apologized and left the room. Brigitte, still shaking from the adrenaline, cradled Solace close, whispering soothing words in his ear.
The rest of the family, sensing the tension, quickly made their excuses and left as well. Brigitte was left alone with Apollo and their new baby.
"Is there anything I can do?" Apollo asked, feeling helpless and useless.
Brigitte smiled at him, her eyes soft. "Just hold us," she said.
Apollo wrapped his arms around Brigitte and Solace, feeling a sense of peace and contentment that he'd never felt before. He knew that they were going to be okay.
As Brigitte drifted off to sleep, she couldn't help but think that she was the luckiest goddess in the world. She had a loving husband, a beautiful baby, and a family that, despite their flaws, loved her unconditionally.
She knew that there would be challenges and hardships ahead, but she was ready to face them. With Apollo by her side and Solace in her arms, she knew that she could conquer anything.
And as she slept, she dreamed of the adventures that awaited them, knowing that they'd face them together, as a family.
