The city lay sprawled out beneath me, a sea of twinkling lights and concrete. I soared through the inky darkness, my wings beating steadily against the wind. My quarry, the elusive Amazo, was somewhere down there, weaving through the concrete canyons, laughing at my futile attempts to catch him.
But I was getting closer. I could feel it.
With a burst of speed, I shot forward, my eyes scanning the streets below. There! A green flash, and then he was gone again. I gritted my teeth, pumping my wings harder. I wouldn't lose him this time.
As I turned a corner, I felt a familiar tingling sensation, the telltale sign of his ring. I looked up just in time to see a green beam slicing through the air towards me. I raised my mace, blocking the beam with a satisfying clang. But the force of it knocked me off balance, and I stumbled in the air.
Before I could recover, Amazo fired another beam, this one wrapping around me like an unyielding vice. I struggled against it, but it was no use. The beam was too powerful, and I was dragged towards him, spinning through the air like a toy.
With a smirk, Amazo slammed me into the side of a building, the impact knocking the wind out of me. Gravity took over, and I fell, landing on my back on the rooftop below. My mace slipped from my grasp, clattering to the ground beside me.
I lay there for a moment, stunned. Amazo landed in front of me, summoning his own mace. I propped myself up on my elbows, not ready to give up yet. I leaped towards him, punching him repeatedly. But my attacks had no effect on the android. He dodged my blows, then smacked me in the torso with his mace. I flew backwards, landing on my back with a shout.
I lay still, unconscious. My limbs were spread out, my head turned to the side. I was vulnerable, helpless.
And then I felt it. A warm body on top of me, hands exploring my unconscious form. I stirred, coming to. Arjun was there, his eyes dark with desire. He had removed my helmet, revealing my face.
"Arjun," I murmured, my voice thick with confusion. But I didn't protest as he fondled my body, kissing my face and playing with my hair. I was at his mercy, and for some reason, I didn't mind.
As I began to stir, Arjun and I locked eyes. There was a moment of hesitation, and then we were lost in each other. Our bodies moved in sync, a dance as old as time. Despite the circumstances, we were both enjoying ourselves.
Afterwards, we lay together, catching our breath. I smiled, playfully insulting Arjun for taking advantage of me in my unconscious state. He laughed, knowing he'd never live it down.
But as I looked at him, I felt a warmth in my chest. Maybe it was the afterglow, or maybe it was something more. Only time would tell.
For now, I was content to lay there, wrapped in Arjun's arms, the city lights twinkling below us.
