The shrill ringing of Yuzu's alarm clock pierced the early morning silence, jolting Mei out of her peaceful slumber. She blinked her eyes open and glanced over at Yuzu's side of the bed, expecting to see her girlfriend sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. But Yuzu was still lying down, her body twisted at an odd angle and her breathing shallow and uneven.
Mei frowned, puzzled by Yuzu's strange behavior. She reached out a hand to shake her gently awake, but as soon as she made contact with Yuzu's skin, she realized something was off. Yuzu was burning up, her forehead hot and clammy to the touch.
"Yuzu?" Mei whispered, feeling a twinge of concern. "Are you okay?"
Yuzu mumbled something unintelligible and shifted restlessly in her sleep, her eyebrows furrowed in discomfort. Mei's worry deepened - she knew that look all too well. Yuzu was having a fever.
Without a moment's hesitation, Mei swung her legs out of bed and padded over to the kitchen table, scribbling a quick note for Yuzu. "Gone to get medicine," she wrote, before grabbing her keys and heading out the door.
The morning air was cool and refreshing, a stark contrast to the stifling heat of their shared bedroom. Mei took a deep breath, trying to clear her head as she walked briskly towards the pharmacy.
Once there, she hesitated in the medicine aisle, unsure of what to get. She knew next to nothing about fevers - was it better to treat them with painkillers or fever reducers? She grabbed a bottle of each, hoping that one of them would do the trick.
As she was paying for the medicine, the cashier gave her a sympathetic smile. "Hope your girlfriend feels better soon," she said.
Mei's heart warmed at the thought of Yuzu, and she nodded gratefully. "Thanks. I hope so too."
When Mei returned home, she found Yuzu in a state of disarray. Her bedsheets were tangled and twisted around her legs, and her hair was sticking to her sweaty forehead. Mei's concern deepened - Yuzu was clearly in distress.
She approached the bed and tried to wake Yuzu up again, calling her name softly. Yuzu stirred, her eyes fluttering open. Mei's heart skipped a beat at the sight of Yuzu's flushed cheeks and glassy eyes.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Mei asked, her voice gentle.
Yuzu looked down and saw that she was having an erection, and her cheeks turned even redder with embarrassment. Mei raised an eyebrow and smirked, teasing Yuzu about her "morning wood." Yuzu tried to hide it, but Mei stopped her, saying that it was nothing to be ashamed of.
Mei helped Yuzu sit up and gave her the medicine, instructing her to take it and rest. Yuzu thanked Mei and leaned against her, feeling grateful for her girlfriend's care and concern. Mei wrapped her arm around Yuzu and pulled her closer, enjoying the warmth of her body.
Yuzu closed her eyes and drifted back to sleep, leaving Mei to watch over her. Mei smiled and thought about how lucky she was to have Yuzu in her life, even if she could be a bit of a handful sometimes.
Mei settled down next to Yuzu and fell asleep herself, feeling content and at peace. As she drifted off, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride - she had taken care of Yuzu, just like she always did. And no matter what challenges came their way, she knew they could face them together.
