The grand hall of Mount Olympus was abuzz with the chatter of gods and goddesses, their voices echoing off the marble walls and columns. But all conversation ceased as a collective gasp rippled through the room. The twins, Leonidas and Piper, lay cooing and gurgling on a blanket, drawing the attention of even the most jaded deities.
Momus, the god of mockery, could not resist the opportunity to make a crude joke. "Looks like Hephaestus has finally found a use for his hammer," he snickered, gesturing towards the twins. A gasp of shock reverberated through the room, followed by an uncomfortable silence.
Brigette, the goddess of joy and fun, scolded Momus for his insensitivity. "The twins are still infants, Momus. They cannot understand your words."
Momus dismissed Brigette's concerns with a wave of his hand. "They need to learn the truth about their parentage sooner or later."
A heated discussion ensued between Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and Hephaestus, the god of fire and metalworking. The other gods and goddesses, unable to resist their curiosity, leaned in to eavesdrop on the argument.
Momus taunted Hephaestus, calling him a "clumsy oaf" and suggesting that he was unfit to be a father. Hephaestus, known for his quick temper, lunged at Momus, but Aphrodite held him back.
Aphrodite, in a rare show of vulnerability, admitted to Hephaestus that she regretted their one-night stand and wished she had never gotten pregnant with the twins. Hephaestus, hurt by Aphrodite's words, stormed off, leaving Aphrodite to face the judgmental stares of the other gods and goddesses.
Momus, sensing an opportunity, continued to needle Aphrodite. "A heartless bitch, that's what you are, Aphrodite. Considering an abortion, were you?"
Brigette, outraged by Momus's words, stepped in to defend Aphrodite. "Everyone makes mistakes, Momus. You of all people should know that."
Momus, undeterred, continued to mock Aphrodite and Hephaestus, causing the tension in the room to reach a breaking point. Just as a full-blown fight seemed inevitable, Zeus, the king of the gods, intervened.
"Enough!" he boomed, calling for order. "Momus, apologize for your behavior."
Momus, chastened, begrudgingly apologized, but the damage had already been done. The secrets of the twins' parentage had been revealed, and the repercussions would be felt for generations to come.
