Whispers of Care

Whispers of Care

Chapter 1: The Unspoken Bond

Hoki adjusted his glasses, the dim light of his cluttered apartment casting shadows over his lean, tall frame. His sharp jawline tightened as he surveyed the room—two dog cages in the corner, newspaper spread across the floor, and a pair of bowls filled with kibble. It wasn’t the life he’d imagined, but when he’d found Lysie and Lily, shivering and abandoned on the streets, he couldn’t turn away. No one deserved to be discarded like that, not even if their quirks were... unconventional.

Lysie, the bolder of the two, crawled toward him on all fours, her toned body glistening with a faint sheen of sweat from the warm room. Her eyes, fierce and unapologetic, locked onto his as she nudged his leg with her head, a silent demand for attention. Lily, ever the shy one, lingered near her cage, her delicate frame trembling slightly, her gaze averted but curious. Both women, naked as the day they were born, lived by their own rules—never speaking, never standing, always embodying the primal essence of pets. Hoki had accepted it, even if it meant his life now revolved around their care.

“Alright, Lysie, don’t get pushy,” Hoki said, his voice a mix of exasperation and warmth. He crouched down, scratching behind her ear—a gesture she seemed to crave. “I’ve got a deadline for this coding project, and you’re not helping with those damn puppy eyes.”

Lysie tilted her head, a playful glint in her stare, as if to say, *You love it, nerd.* She pawed at his knee, insistent, her bare skin brushing against his jeans. Hoki sighed, a smirk tugging at his lips. “You’re a menace, you know that? I should’ve known taking in strays would be more trouble than it’s worth.”

He glanced over at Lily, who had inched closer, her movements hesitant but deliberate. Her wide eyes flicked up to meet his for a fleeting second before dropping again, a silent plea for reassurance. “And you, Lily, don’t think I don’t see you creeping over here. What’s it gonna be? A pat on the head or are you just gonna stare at me all night?”

Hoki’s tone was teasing, but there was a tenderness there, a protective edge that neither woman missed. He reached out, gently stroking Lily’s hair, his fingers lingering just a moment longer than necessary. The air in the room shifted, a quiet tension building as Lysie pressed closer, her breath hot against his thigh through the fabric. Hoki’s pulse quickened, his mind racing with thoughts he knew he shouldn’t entertain. They were his responsibility, not objects of desire—but damn if their raw, untamed energy didn’t stir something deep within him.

“Christ, you two are gonna be the death of me,” he muttered, standing abruptly to put some distance between them. His voice was rough, betraying the heat creeping up his neck. “I’m not some kind of... I mean, I’m just trying to keep you safe, okay? So stop looking at me like I’m a damn steak.”

Lysie let out a low, playful huff, crawling a step closer, her eyes daring him to keep running from whatever this was. Lily, emboldened by the moment, nudged his other side, her touch feather-light but electric. Hoki’s breath hitched, his resolve wavering as he felt the warmth of their bodies so close, their unspoken trust and wild nature pulling at something primal in him.

He turned away, running a hand through his dark hair, his mind a battlefield of duty and temptation. “I need a cold shower,” he grumbled, half to himself, half to them. “You two stay put. No funny business while I’m gone.”

But as he walked toward the bathroom, the sound of their soft movements behind him told him they weren’t done testing his limits. The night was young, and the unspoken heat between them was only beginning to simmer—ready to boil over in ways none of them could predict.
