Chapter 1: Unspoken Heat
The late afternoon sun spilled through the sheer curtains of Max’s apartment, casting a golden glow over the cozy living room. Alice sat cross-legged on the worn leather couch, her pale skin almost luminescent in the light, her sero-green eyes flickering with a shy curiosity as she flipped through a magazine. Her curly hair bounced with every subtle movement, framing her soft, delicate features. That thin waist of hers, accentuated by the tight tank top she wore, made Max’s breath hitch every time he stole a glance. And that chest—God, it was impossible not to notice how her curves strained against the fabric.
Max leaned against the kitchen counter, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched her. He was the kind of handsome that turned heads—sharp jawline, tousled dark hair, and eyes that held a dangerous mix of mischief and tenderness. He sipped his coffee, the steam curling around his face, but his mind was far from the bitter taste. Three years with Alice, and still, every moment with her felt like a slow burn, a fire he couldn’t extinguish.
'Hey, sweetheart,' Max drawled, setting his mug down with a deliberate clink. 'You gonna keep pretending to read that thing, or are you finally gonna admit you’ve been staring at me for the last ten minutes?'
Alice’s cheeks flushed a soft pink, her lips parting in a half-smile as she lowered the magazine. 'I’m not staring,' she shot back, her voice light but laced with a playful edge. 'I’m just... making sure you don’t burn the place down with your terrible coffee-making skills.'
Max chuckled, pushing off the counter and sauntering over to her. 'Oh, is that so? Because I’m pretty sure I caught those pretty eyes of yours lingering a little too long.' He dropped onto the couch beside her, his thigh brushing against hers, the heat of his body sending a shiver through her despite the warmth of the room.
Alice rolled her eyes, but the blush deepened. 'You’re insufferable, you know that?' she teased, nudging him with her shoulder. But her voice trembled just enough to betray her nerves. She was shy, always had been, but with Max, she felt safe enough to push back—even if her heart raced every time he got this close.
'Insufferable, huh?' Max’s voice dropped an octave, a husky edge creeping in as he leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. 'And yet, here you are, sitting in my apartment, looking like a goddamn dream. You’re killing me, Alice.'
Her breath hitched, and she turned her head to meet his gaze, their faces inches apart. 'Max...' she whispered, her voice a mix of hesitation and something deeper, something hungry. Her sensitivity was her secret weapon—every touch, every word from him sent sparks skittering across her skin.
He reached out, his fingers brushing against her jaw, tilting her chin up. 'Tell me to stop,' he murmured, his eyes searching hers for any sign of doubt. 'Tell me, and I’ll back off right now.'
But Alice didn’t say a word. Instead, her lips parted, and her eyes fluttered shut for just a moment before snapping open again, a fire igniting behind them. 'Don’t you dare stop,' she said, her voice firm despite the quiver, her strength shining through her shyness.
That was all Max needed. In a heartbeat, his lips crashed against hers, hungry and desperate, his hands sliding down to grip her waist. Alice gasped into the kiss, her fingers curling into his shirt as she pulled him closer, her body arching instinctively against his. The magazine fell to the floor, forgotten, as the heat between them surged.
'God, Alice,' Max growled against her mouth, his hands roaming up her sides, brushing the edge of her tank top. 'You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this.'
She pulled back just enough to look at him, her chest heaving, her eyes blazing with a mix of nerves and desire. 'Then show me,' she challenged, her voice steady now, daring him to take the lead.
Max’s grin was feral as he tugged at her top, pulling it over her head in one swift motion, revealing the pale expanse of her skin and the curves he’d fantasized about for far too long. Alice’s breath caught, a flicker of fear in her eyes, but Max was quick to cup her face, his thumb brushing her cheek.
'Hey, I’ve got you,' he said softly, his tenderness cutting through the raw heat of the moment. 'You’re safe with me. Always.'
Her lips curved into a small, trusting smile, and then she was kissing him again, harder this time, her hands sliding under his shirt to feel the hard planes of his chest. The air between them crackled, electric and urgent, as Max’s fingers fumbled with the clasp of her bra, his patience wearing thin.
Their breaths mingled, heavy and ragged, as clothes began to fall away, the tension building to a fever pitch. Max’s hands gripped her hips, pulling her onto his lap, and Alice let out a soft moan, her body trembling with anticipation. She could feel him, hard and ready beneath her, and it sent a rush of heat straight to her core, leaving her wet and aching.
'Max,' she breathed, her voice dripping with need, her nails digging into his shoulders. 'I want you. Now.'
And as his hands slid lower, teasing the edge of her jeans, the world outside faded away, leaving only the promise of an explosive release neither of them could hold back any longer.
