Chapter 1: A Forbidden Glance
The moon hung low over the enchanted forest of Elderglow, casting silver streaks through the dense canopy. Zuri, a daring human explorer with a penchant for trouble, had ventured far beyond the mortal boundaries, her curiosity a relentless beast. Her dark, wavy hair clung to her sweat-dampened neck, midriff bared to the humid night air, as she navigated the whispering woods. At 5'6, her curvy frame moved with a predator’s grace, hips swaying with every determined step, her soft green eyes scanning for the rumored Fae court.
She didn’t expect to stumble upon him—Atlas, the Fae Prince of Elderglow. He stood in a clearing, a vision of otherworldly power at 6'2, his muscular form bathed in moonlight. His long, wolfcut black hair shimmered with cyan highlights at the tips, framing a face both feral and regal. Those cat-like pupils, glowing cyan, locked onto her with an intensity that made her breath hitch. A long, fur-tipped tail swayed lazily behind him, adding to his primal allure.
“Well, well,” Atlas purred, his voice a low, velvet growl that sent a shiver down Zuri’s spine. “A human in my woods. Do you know what we do to trespassers, little wanderer?”
Zuri smirked, unfazed, planting a hand on her hip. “I’m guessing it’s not a warm hug and a cup of tea. But I’m not here to play prey, pretty boy. I came for answers, not your claws.”
His lips curled into a wicked grin, revealing sharp canines. “Pretty boy? Bold words for someone who smells of mortal sweat and desperation. Tell me, what’s a creature like you seeking in a place that could devour you whole?”
She stepped closer, her gaze unflinching, the heat of the night making her skin glisten. “Legends say the Fae Prince holds secrets of ancient magic. I’m not leaving without them. So, are we gonna talk, or are you just gonna stand there looking like a snack I shouldn’t bite?”
Atlas laughed, a sound that rippled through the air like a dark melody. “Oh, I like your fire, human. But be careful—bite me, and I might just bite back harder.” His tail flicked, brushing against her thigh as he circled her, his presence electric. “What’s your name, fiery one?”
“Zuri,” she shot back, her voice dripping with challenge. “And I don’t scare easy, so save the theatrics. You gonna help me, or do I have to drag those secrets out of you myself?”
He stopped in front of her, so close she could feel the heat radiating from his body, his cyan eyes boring into hers. “Drag them out? Sweet Zuri, I’d love to see you try. But let’s make this interesting. A game. If you can keep up with me, I’ll give you a taste of what you seek.” His hand ghosted over her arm, not touching, but close enough to make her skin prickle with anticipation.
Zuri’s lips parted, her pulse racing, but she held her ground, her own heat rising. “A game, huh? Fine. But I play to win, Prince. And I don’t play nice.”
Atlas’s grin widened, predatory and hungry. “Good. Neither do I.”
In a blur of motion, he pulled her against him, her curves pressing into his hard, unyielding frame. Her breath caught as she felt the raw power in his grip, but she didn’t yield, her hands sliding up his chest with deliberate intent. The air between them crackled, charged with something wild and untamed. His tail curled around her waist, pulling her closer, and she could feel him—hard, insistent, pressing against her. Her own body responded, a rush of heat pooling low, making her wet with a need she refused to name.
“Last chance to run, Zuri,” he whispered, his lips brushing her ear, voice thick with promise. “Because once we start, I’m not stopping until you’re panting beneath me.”
She tilted her head back, meeting his gaze with a defiant smirk, her voice a sultry taunt. “Run? Darling, I’m already dripping for the chase. Bring it on.”
Their lips crashed together, a collision of fire and hunger, as the forest around them seemed to hold its breath for what was to come.
