The Pantheon's secret gambling den was a hive of activity, the air thick with the scent of sweat and ambition. Amidst the sea of gods and goddesses, one figure stood out: Ophelia, a hybrid between a siren and a wendigo. Her white hair shimmered in the dim light as she sauntered towards the poker table, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Hephaestus, my dear," she purred, her pale blue eyes glinting with amusement. "Care to join me for a little game?"
The god of fire looked up from his cup of ambrosia, his eyes dulled by the weight of his recent heartbreak. His wife, Aphrodite, had been unfaithful once again, and the pain was still fresh. He nodded slowly, pushing his cup aside.
"Why not?" he said, his voice devoid of emotion. "I have nothing left to lose."
Ophelia's smirk grew wider as she dealt the cards with a flourish. The stakes were high - the loser would be shot in the head. But Ophelia didn't care. She was there for the thrill of the game, the adrenaline that coursed through her veins as she taunted her opponents.
As the game progressed, it became clear that Hephaestus was losing. Ophelia watched with glee as tears formed in his eyes.
"Aw look, heph is going to cry," she said, unable to resist the jibe. "You don't deserve to live. Why not kill yourself here? Have a seatative. You're pathetic, whining and complaining. You don't deserve the dream. You're going to die alone."
Hephaestus flinched at her words, but Ophelia didn't relent. She pushed a bottle of pills towards him, challenging him to take them and end his life in front of all the gods.
With a broken heart, Hephaestus took the pills and died within a minute. Ophelia, satisfied with the outcome, turned back into a rabbit and hopped away into her deep burrow.
As she disappeared from sight, the other gods and goddesses erupted into applause. Ophelia had won, and she had done so with style. Her sharp tongue and witty banter had added a layer of humor and lightness to the otherwise intense scene.
As she settled into her burrow, Ophelia couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. She was a strong, controlling, and direct woman, and she wasn't afraid to show it. She had played the game of death, and she had come out on top. And as she drifted off to sleep, she knew that she would be ready for whatever challenges the next day would bring.
