Alex and Jamie pulled up to the abandoned dock, the gravel crunching beneath the tires of Alex's old beat-up car. They tumbled out, laughing and joking playfully as they grabbed the picnic basket and blanket from the trunk.
"I can't believe you talked me into this," Jamie said, shaking her head as she looked around at the secluded location. "It's like something out of a horror movie."
Alex rolled her eyes, "Oh come on, it's romantic. Just think, it's just us and the great outdoors."
As they set up the blanket and picnic basket, Alex accidentally knocked over a bottle of wine, spilling some on her shirt.
"Well, look at that," Jamie teased, "The great outdoors is already getting to you. You're such a klutz."
Alex stuck her tongue out at Jamie, but couldn't help but blush at the nickname. Jamie moved closer, dabbing at the stain with a napkin. Her eyes flicked up to Alex's, and she couldn't help but notice the way Alex's chest rose and fell with each breath.
Alex, noticing Jamie's gaze, smirked. "You know, it's hot out here. Maybe we should take a dip in the lake to cool off."
Jamie raised an eyebrow, playfully insulting Alex's "impulsiveness" but agreed to the swim. They stripped down to their underwear and jumped into the lake, splashing and laughing.
As they tread water, Alex swam closer to Jamie, their bodies brushing against each other. Jamie looked at Alex, a mischievous glint in her eye, and suggested they race back to the dock.
Alex agreed, and the two took off, their bodies slicing through the water. As they reached the dock, Alex pulled ahead, winning the race.
Jamie, slightly out of breath, teased Alex about her "competitive streak" and suggested they rest for a moment. Alex, still catching her breath, agreed and the two lay back on the blanket, their bodies close.
Jamie, unable to resist, leaned in and kissed Alex, who responded eagerly. As their kiss deepened, Alex ran her hand down Jamie's side, causing her to gasp.
The chapter ends with the two women wrapped up in each other, the abandoned dock becoming the setting for their own private escape. The quiet lake and secluded location becoming the perfect backdrop for their growing desire.
